Purpose Doesn’t Retire: Reinventing Work and Impact Well into Retirement Age

On March 28, 2025, Voices of Reinvention united a powerhouse panel of leaders at Csuites by The Great Room, PLQ 3. These were no ordinary speakers—Linda Locke (71), Philip Forrest (75), Dr. William Wan (78), and Dr. Kanwaljit Soin (83) are redefining what it means to lead with purpose, well into their later years.Founder and CEO of Genashtim Pvt Ltd, Thomas Ng, 68, was the youngest of the group, but no less seasoned. After decades in senior leadership across global firms, Thomas found success—but sought something more meaningful. That “something” took shape into Genashtim, a for-profit social enterprise he founded in 2008 to create sustainable employment for the disadvantaged, especially people with disabilities (PWDs).
While most companies focused on traditional office work, Thomas flipped the model entirely. He asked, “What if we bring work to those who can’t access it?” Despite initial skepticism, he built a fully remote workforce—12 years before remote work became mainstream during the pandemic.
Today, Genashtim operates in over 30 countries, proving that technology can be a tool for empowerment, not just efficiency.
At the workshop, Thomas and his fellow panelists reminded us that age is not a limitation—it’s an asset. Their combined wisdom, energy, and sense of purpose created a space that was not only inspiring but catalytic.
Thomas’ message was clear: Purpose is the real game-changer. Success without it feels empty. With purpose, you don’t just build businesses—you build legacies.
Genashtim continues to evolve under his leadership, committed to inclusive growth and constant reinvention. It’s a living example that meaningful impact isn’t tied to age, but to intention. Because when you lead with purpose, you’re not just moving forward—you’re making it count.
