Genashtim Attends Impacto Day Fuelling Powerful Discussions on Sustainability

“Economic Growth vs. Sustainable Development—Can We Have Both?” This pressing question was one of the many thought-provoking dilemmas discussed at Impacto Day. This special event was organized by fellow certified B Corp IMPACTO to address the tough questions surrounding sustainability through friendly debates and honest discussions. Genashtim, along with 100 other participants, had the pleasure of attending the event on 9 October 2024 at The Godown, KL.
The diverse panel of speakers invited to spice up the debate include Ira Kumar, Asia Pacific Advisory Council from the Association for Financial Professionals; Dr Renard Siew, Head of Sustainability at Yinson; Datin Seri Sunita Rajakumar, Chairman of Dutch Lady Milk Enterprises and Kishore Ravuri, founder of Impacto. Together, they explored the complexities of sustainability, touching on timely and controversial topics, including:
1. Profits or Purpose – Which Should Drive Business Strategy?
2. Regulatory Compliance vs Corporate Initiatives – Which is More Effective in Driving Sustainability?
Representing Genashtim at the event was ESG Manager Tan Ee Beng and Executive Assistant Mary Albert who appreciated the valuable insights and contrasting perspectives that fuelled the panel discussions. These discussions prompted both the speakers and the audience to ask tough questions and challenge the status quo while considering the evolving role of businesses in sustainable development.
At the event, IMPACTO also took the opportunity to celebrate its 8th Year Anniversary. The KL-based boutique Sustainability Clinic also launched its new ESG Digital platform to help companies integrate ESG into their business practices.
Overall, the event ended on a high note by challenging companies to take a more proactive role in driving sustainability. The event reinforced Genashtim’s stance and commitment towards sustainability and social impact that has been a guiding force for the company ever since its inception in 2008.
