Ways to Stay Creative When You’re Stuck at Home

When you’re staring at the same four walls and talking to the same people (or no one at all) every day, it’s challenging to find inspiration, especially for creative people. However, there are several techniques to enhance your creativity which won’t require you to travel far, or even leave your neighborhood. These activities can also minimize anxiety as it makes you focus “in the now”, which is something that many of us need to do right now
- Dabble in a different medium
If you’re a writer, for example, you might think in words all the time and you sometimes find yourself stuck in a rut. To break the monotony, you can try your hand at painting to get those creative juices flowing. You may start by using watercolor and paints if you prefer to keep it simple. Experimenting how different colors merge together or how brushstrokes modify the texture of the watercolor on paper can be both calming and inspiring. The trick is to focus on the process rather than the final product. - Play tourist in your neighborhood
When you’re on a vacation, your senses are amplified, so you notice things like a lovely door or a particularly beautiful arrangement of plants on a doorstep. This time, do the same thing and take note of the beauty around you as you walk around your neighborhood. - Rearrange your surroundings
You may switch and move around treasured collectibles as your mood dictates, creating and changing small sceneries on your shelves. You can also rearrange or group your indoor plants. You may want to reorganise your books to make your favorite novels stand out too.
