Leigh Traje
Operations Assistant - EPIC Online

“After resigning from my previous job and losing my life-time partner I felt like my life was devoid of all meaning. I spent most of my time on social networking sites. I soon realized though that this was slowly dragging me down plus I was not earning money to pay my bills through being idle. I decided to attend a 3-month course at SPDMI and was offered, whilst still attending the course, the chance to start working with Genashtim. In June 2011 I joined the company as a Business Development Assistant and later on became a Sales and Marketing Assistant for eCornell.

As this was my first online job it changed my career path and daily life. It enables me to improve my communication skills due to the fact that I deal directly with our clients and my colleagues. Also the money I am now earning is a big help for me as everything around us is getting more and more expensive.

I appreciate what Genashtim is doing for Persons with Disabilities and the privileges they provide for them by being able to work from home. As a wheelchair user it’s not easy for me to go to an office on a daily basis, especially when considering the expenses and time spent on whilst travelling. My wish for Genashtim is that they will grow bigger, enabling them to continuously inspire others who think they have no hope because of their disabilities.”

Role in the business
Leigh is a Sales Marketing Assistant for the E-Learning programs of Genashtim - eCornell and U21Global. She helps with conceptualising strategies to promote different online courses and also liaises with prospective clients.

Leigh contracted polio when she was 11 months old. Because of her strong will and her mother’s support she was able to finish high school in a regular scholastic environment. There she was awarded with the prize for ‘Most Persevering Student’.

She became a prompter with Christian Child Refuge and Sp-Ed Center, a school and organization catering to the needs of the Special Education amongst children, known presently as The Birthright Educators Foundation Inc. From there she was promoted to various positions until finally she was an assistant to the Executive Director.

Leigh has travelled both locally in the Philippines and abroad, Hong Kong and Europe.
