Joe Ryan Tuzara
Osteomyelitis-Bone Disease Infection
Remote IT Support Specialist
“This is my journey before joining Genashtim and my current experience here in Genashtim, wayback in 2000, I was a regular employee. I worked as a Field Internet Installer and Technician for a Telecommunications Company and cable provider in the Philippines. My role was to install and maintain their internet system to ensure the customers had access to reliable internet, however, during those times, I had problems commuting to work every day because of the poor public transportation here in the Philippines. I did this for eight years or more.
Due to the lack of quality urban transport systems here in the Philippines including the expensive fares, I use a motorcycle to go to my workplace and also to avoid the daily problem of traffic jams.
One day while I was in the middle of my way home, something unexpected happened to me, I had an accident with my motorcycle, but that day I thought that there was no harm to me despite the accident, and everything changed, passed days and because I didn’t feel any signs or symptoms, I didn’t immediately distinguish that there I was a health problem, I had an injury and an infection, until I was diagnosed with it Turns out I have Osteomyelitis, it’s a bone infection.
Infections can reach a bone by traveling through the bloodstream or spreading from nearby tissue, because of this I have felt pain and sometimes inflammation over the area of infection. Because of this, it was difficult for me to do my duties and responsibilities properly as a field worker, I couldn’t walk properly anymore because of the pain I felt, and I decided to stop working because of that illness.

Because of this, it was difficult for me to do my duties and responsibilities properly as a field worker, I couldn’t walk properly anymore because of the pain I felt, and I decided to stop working because of that illness.
I was depressed at that time, I lacked earnings to be able to provide for the needs of my family. So, I decided to build a Computer Shop. I used my savings to build the business I knew; I used my knowledge to grow it.
Until another test came, a COVID-19 pandemic that tested all people around the world, because of this pandemic, my business gradually lost money which led to the closing of my business, I was forced to dispossess or sell all of my PC units to somehow get some capital despite what I spent on it.
I was stressed and depressed because of my job loss including when my business was closed, I tried to find a job again, but it was not easy because of my condition, I started to experience discrimination in finding a job, and I had a hard time joining the Philippine workforce. It is sad to say that declaring your disability to the company you are applying for will prevent you from finding a better job within their organization.
They won’t want to risk their business and your health so they can have their preferences. If they make a pass at you, take your talents elsewhere. I have a long road ahead, I continued to look for a job. I kept searching for jobs in my field and searching hiring companies, until one day I saw Genashtim on a job site that offered fully remote jobs and above all accepted PWDs,Like normal citizens who are looking for a job, I tried to apply, I submitted a resume with a cover letter and an online application, based on my experience, I was still nervous because of the rejections I received in previous experiences, but despite the nervousness and worry, the company offered me a chance, the company gave me another opportunity to continue and grow my knowledge and our company gave me a chance to become as a Remote IT Support Specialist which is a good start to my career again.
This company helps me to Find out what I enjoy doing and what I’ve truly good at as well as how to develop my areas which for me is an important lesson you can learn at work. Being a part of the Genashtim family is a good privilege that you should take care of, they make connecting with others a priority, and Genashtim is a great tool to help me achieve my career goals. Thanks to Genashtim our company, to my co-workers, and especially to my team at Abled Online who continue to be part of my development of my skills and knowledge.
One of the things I’ve learned despite the trials I’ve been through is to Remember to look on the bright side or always look on the bright side because Every day isn’t going to be the best day, and some days can be downright challenging. However, if you can remember to look on the bright side, the difficult days can be just another way to grow in both your career and life in general.”
